The Knob Noster School District is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a District-wide Gifted Education Teacher for the 2018-2019 School Year. 

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate diverse professional knowledge, a vision of excellence, a student-centered focus, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Missouri Teacher’s certificate and appropriate content area/grade level certification
  2. Master’s in related content area preferred, but not required
  3. A minimum of five (5) years successful classroom experience preferred, but not required
  4. Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Student Services and Building Level Principals  

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:            

  1. Coordinates, teaches, and leads our gifted education program
  2. Provides students differentiated educational opportunities aimed at growing and stimulating students beyond the standard grade level curriculum
  3. Works collaboratively with teachers and administrators to develop a gifted program that develops the unique abilities of students in the program
  4. Works as part of an instructional team to support student/classroom learning objectives

REQUIRED PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leads, oversees and ensures compliance and good standing with DESE as a state-approved gifted program
  2. Prepares lesson plans for each group of students who have been identified as gifted utilizing a variety of tools, including technology
  3. Serves as a resource for teachers to help identify differentiated classroom activities and materials for meeting the needs of gifted students in their classrooms
  4. Initiates, facilitates, and conducts in-service programs or activities for staff and administration on gifted students
  5. Develops and implements parent involvement activities relating to gifted students
  6. Keeps informed on and disseminates information about gifted programming, instructional delivery strategies, instructional materials and recent research
  7. Administers cognitive and other assessments to identify and place eligible students for the gifted program
  8. Seeks a variety of services through community resources and agencies to meet the needs of gifted students
  9. Communicates regularly with teachers, students, and other appropriate staff members on student progress
  10. Maintains data collection for gifted students, and collects and documents objective information about the students’ strengths andneeds using any technology/tools employed by the district.
  1. Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration/state/federal law.
  2. Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration.
  3. Maintains strict confidentiality of both student and teacher information.
  4. Fulfills any and all other requests made by building and district administration.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     185 day teacher contract. Teacher salary schedule to be established by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

 

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
